Bruce Jean is a lifelong Rainy Lake angler with over 30 years of experience on the water and a reputation as one of the most dialed-in guides in Minnesota.
As the owner of Rainy Lake Guiding and current President of the Rainy Lake Sports Fishing Club, Bruce is deeply connected to the lake, the fishery, and the local angling community. He guides on Rainy Lake, Mille Lacs, Lake Bemidji and Gull Lake, consistently putting clients on fish and delivering a top-tier experience for anglers of all skill levels.
In addition to guiding, Bruce spent over 30 years in education, including serving as a school principal. That experience shows up in how he runs trips today, patient, organized, and focused on making sure every guest has a great experience.

A Message from Captain Bruce
I was born and raised on Rainy Lake, and fishing has always been a part of my life. I got my start fishing with my dad and my brother, and over time that turned into working alongside them in our family business, Rainy Lake Guiding.
Spending that much time on the water, day in and day out, is where you really learn how things change and what it takes to stay on fish. That’s the experience I rely on every time I’m guiding.
While Rainy Lake is home, I also guide on Mille Lacs and Gull Lake. No matter where we’re fishing, my goal is simple: put you on fish and make sure you have a great day on the water.
I run the latest equipment and technology to give my clients every advantage, but at the end of the day, it’s about knowing the water and putting that experience to work.
I work with anglers of all experience levels and tailor each trip to what you’re looking for, whether that’s learning something new, chasing a personal best, or just enjoying time on the lake.

Bruce runs a Brand New (yearly) Lund Pro V 2175 powered by a 400 Mercury Verado V10, fully rigged with the latest Garmin electronics and a Minn Kota Ulterra trolling motor. Everything is set up to give you the best possible experience and put more fish in the boat.
